Our dedicated influencer team here at SNS have created a new way for brands to work with high profile influencers.
With the technologies of Instagram ever expanding, there should be no surprise that their latest update is going to have savvy shoppers everywhere breathing a sigh of relief as the ability to now purchase in-app is finally rolled out to the world.
Introducing Checkout, an in-app option that allows Instagram users to immediately purchase products without leaving the app. With this option, users can store their payment information on the Instagram app and in return, Instagram will charge retail companies for a selling fee.
The latest feature will no doubt come as a welcome update, as before Checkout purchasing items on Instagram often redirected the user to a web view on the site of the retailer, which often caused frustration among customers. Now, Instagram believes that Checkout will allow users finish their purchase with ease and inspire them to shop more.
So how does it work? When users scroll through their feed and see a product they would like to purchase, all they need to do is to tap to view the tag on the product. They will then automatically see a “Checkout on Instagram” button on the product page.
Next, users can tap the button to select various options for the product, such as size or color, then they will proceed to payment directly.
Users will then be prompted to enter the required payment information including name, e-mail address, billing information, and shipping address for the first purchase that they make, before saving automatically for ease. According to the website, users will be able to buy products using Mastercard, Visa, Discover, PayPal, and American Express.
When it comes to delivery, the best part about Checkout is that users will also receive notifications about shipment right inside Instagram. This will help keep track of the purchase and give peace of mind that your products are on their way safely!
Whilst an exciting new feature that many can’t wait to try, Instagram Checkout is currently only available in closed beta for companies in the United States, including brands such as Adidas, H&M, Dior, MAC Cosmetics, Nike, Zara, and Prada, among other famous companies.
With talk of further updates to become released nationwide shortly and reflected across Facebook shortly after, will you be utilising this new feature?
